Registration Now Open for Baseball Tournament Season

The regular season is well underway which means it's time to get signed up to play through the summer! Baseball players age 7-12 (as of April 30th) and eligible coaches, must make a commitment to play by April 30th to be eligible for the post-season draft. The season dates and tournament locations vary by age; however, all teams will participate in at least 4 tournaments. The commitment window is only a week long, so don't delay - sign up today!

Registration Dates, Paperwork and Eligibility:

• Registration: Available exclusively online (gbybs.org) April 23rd - 30th
• Eligibility: Baseball players, league age 7-12, who participated in at least 50% of regular season games.
• Paperwork: An original birth certificate is REQUIRED to play. Player verification date, May 22nd, time & location TBD.
• Coaches: Yes, coaches need to register for the summer season as well. Only coaches from regular season are eligible.

Cost, Fundraising, Scholarships & Refunds:

• Cost: A down-payment of $100 is required with online registration. Remaining $150 is due May 22nd. Total cost per player is $250 (all ages).
• Fundraising: There are no mandatory fundraisers for the tournament season, however, teams* can raise funds on their own and/or secure team sponsorship.
• Scholarships: Unfortunately, we do not offer scholarships for our Tournament season. All players must pay $100 to register for the season.
• Refunds: Players selected to a team, will have ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS. Players not selected will receive a refund check by mail no later than June 4th.
• Uniforms: Players will receive 2 jerseys, 1 pair of pants and 1 hat for the tournament team.

Tournament Locations and Team Make-up:

• Total # of Teams: We will make as many teams as we can based on player & coach registration and availability.
• Team Ages: There will be 4 age groups this year: 12 & under (12u), 10 & under (10u), 9 & under (9u) & 8 & under (8u).
• Tournament Locations: Several tournaments are local including our own Main City Park. Other locations include West Linn, Longview/Kelso, Sandy & Clackamas.

Player Selection: Kid vote and Community vote:

• Registered players: All eligible players signed up & paid by the cut-off date are considered 'registered players' and available for tournament team selection.
• Community Vote for 1st team player(s):
» The 'community' is made up of valid email address from the 2016 regular season on file with the registrar and/or secretary.
» A list of registered players will be provided to the community via email between May 1st and May 6th for voting.
» The top vote earner per tournament team age group will be placed on the 1st team.
• Player Vote for 1st team player(s):
» The 'players' are made up of regular season players within Minors, Majors 60 & Majors 70 divisions.
» A list of registered players will be provided to the players in person by the player agents between May 2nd and May 6th for voting.
» The top vote earner per tournament team age group will be placed on the 1st team.

Player Selection - Coaches Draft:

• Registered coaches: All eligible coaches signed up by the cut-off date are considered 'available coaches' and can be selected to coach a tournament team.
• Coaches Draft for 1st team player(s) & Coach(es):
» Minors, M60 & M70 head coaches will each nominate 5 regular season team players, for each age group, for the draft.
» Coaches will vote on 7 players to be added to the first team along with the Player & Community vote players.
» Coaches will vote on the head coach for the first team.
» The head coach will select any additional players they would like from the registered players list.
» The head coach will select two assistant coaches from the available coaches list.
• Coaches Draft for 2nd team player(s) & Coach(es):
» Minors, M60 & M70 head coaches will each nominate 5 regular season team players, for each age group, for the draft.
» Coaches will vote on 9 players to be added to the second team.
» Coaches will vote on the head coach for the second team.
» The head coach will select any additional players they would like from the registered players list.
» The head coach will select two assistant coaches from the available coaches list.

Players not selected to a tournament team:

• Ages 9-12: Players age 9-12, not selected to a tournament team, will be provided a refund no later than June 4th (see refunds)
• Ages 7-8: Players age 7-8, not selected to a team, may have the opportunity to play a local 'summer season.
A decision will be made after the tournament season draft is completed, no later than May 18th.

*Funds raised by teams must be given to the league to cover balance of player registration cost for their team. Any remaining funds can be used by the team as long as it benefits all players on the team equally.
