GBYBS Baseball and Softball Programs

Lower Division: The primary objective of the lower division is to enable players to learn the basic fundamentals of baseball in a fun and stimulating environment. The focus is on developing their skills to help them be the best players they can be, both on and off the field, while maintaining a healthy approach to being competitive.

TeeBall: Players hit from a tee, there are no outs... Read more

PeeWee (coach pitch): Coaches toss the ball to a batter for them to hit, and if needed a tee is utilized to ensure all players have a chance to hit the ball each time they are at bat. Players wanting to extend the season can register for PeeWee Summer ball in June & July... Read more

Cal Ripken Division:
The primary objective of our Cal Ripken division is to help players progress from a pitching machine to kid pitch and then to advanced play with base stealing and lead offs. Along the way, players focus on development of proper technique in hitting, fielding, base running and pitching along with the intangible skills of being a good teammate.

Rookies (machine pitch): Makes use of a pitching machine to allow for more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field. Fear of actually being hit by a pitched ball is diminished, making the game safer and improving playing confidence. Players have their first opportunity to register for tournament play during our summer season... Read more

Minors (kid pitch): Players continue to build and refine their skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. They will also have their first opportunity to learn pitching and throw from a mound. Players can also register for our summer season with several tournaments including state, regional and world series opportunities... Read more

Majors (advanced kid pitch): At the majors level, advanced pitching and strategy are at play with some teams beginning to utilize lead offs and pickoff plays along with an occasional over the fence home run. Players have the opportunity to register for our summer season with several tournaments including state, regional and world series opportunities... Read more

Babe Ruth Division:
A great option for players to want to continue their baseball playing experience beyond Cal Ripken, regardless of participation on a local high school team. All Babe Ruth teams play with official baseball (high school) rules.

Juniors (age 13-15): Playing baseball on a 90' baseball diamond is a huge benefit to playing Babe Ruth Baseball. This allows serious baseball players a year on this field size before trying out for a high school team. Players also have the opportunity to register for our summer season with several tournaments including district, state, regional and world series opportunities... Read more

Softball Division:  Through a trusted partnership with Gresham Barlow ASA, our girls have the opportunity to play softball beginning as early as age of 7, although many girls continue to play baseball through Farms and above (see above). Either way, registration is all here in one place at GBYBS and the choice is yours... Read more
