Baseball and Softball has been in the local community for more than 40 years. Gresham Barlow Youth Baseball / Softball values the process of learning fundamentals by instilling determination, courage and teamwork from TeeBall to High School age players. We are a volunteer organization utilizing involvement of adults sharing our common passion of community and excellence.

2020 Regular Season Frequently Asked Questions:                                             


 
When does Registration open? Online registration opens Dec. 15th and closes on various dates depending on division.  


Do I have to register online?
Yes, however we offer a walk-In registration once a month at various locations. See our league calendar for specific dates. 

How do I register my player(s)?
Click on Register button (upper right corner of home page) or select Registration on the main navigation. Login or create a new account. Select appropriate program for your player and any volunteer role(s) and provide requested information. Once payment is provided, registration is complete!

What is the Early Bird Discount? 
GBYBS no longer offers an early bird discount.

Do you offer a sibling Discount? GBYBS offers a $10 discount per additional sibling with a maximum $30 discount per family.

Do you offer a scholarships? GBYBS does have a limited number of scholarships available for families with financial need. Contact us for information: [email protected] or [email protected] or complete our scholarship form at GBYBS.org/About/Scholarships

What is the refund policy? GBYBS has a no refund policy, however all requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis prior to team formation. No request without exceptional circumstance (player moved out of district or suffered season ending injury) will be reviewed after teams are formed. 

Can I donate to your scholarship fund? Yes! As a 501c3 non-profit organization, GBYBS donations are tax deductible - thank you in advance for your support! At the time of registration, select the donation amount of your choice and include with payment. All funds gathered during registration are directly used to fund our scholarship program. You can also go to https://squareup.com/store/GBYBS anytime to donate to this fund year-round.

What is the cost to play? Registration fees are set based on the league age of the player which varies by date of birth. See chart:
          TeeBall - $55
          PeeWee - $80
          Softball - $75 or $100
          Rookies - $105
          Minors - $155
          Majors - $160
          Club / Selct Division - $10 tryout fee, $160league fee
          Babe Ruth - $165
          

What is 'league age'? League age is a cut-off date for determining player age for the season. Cut off dates vary by program. Beginning in 2020, baseball players will be allowed to play within a division aligned to school grade. 
          Baseball - April 30th cut-off
          Softball  - January 1st cut-off

When does the 2020 spring season start and end?
The practice season starts after the players' respective teams are announced. Spring games start in April and go through the end May including Memorial Day Weekend.

Does my player needs to be evaluated?
All baseball players in Minors, Majors, Babe Ruth & Softball must attend evaluations. Check our site for information regarding location as it may change.

Can I request a coach or to be on the same team with friends? During registration, there is an area to request a coach and/or friends, however this is not guaranteed. Please keep in mind, baseball players in Minors, Majors & Babe Ruth are drafted to a team, rather than put together through coach/friend requests.

When does registration close?
Registration deadlines vary by division (see below). After this date, your player is subject to late fees and will be placed on a waiting list. There will be no guarantees of team placement after this deadline.
          Club / Select Tryout: January 5th
          Babe Ruth, Minors & Majors: February 16th
          Rookies: Feb 29th
          TeeBall, PeeWee, Softball: March 7th

What is the fundraiser this year?  Baseball players will have a choice of hanging flower baskets and peperoni sticks for our league fundraiser in 2020. Softball players participate in a separate fundraiser that supports the softball league specificly.

When is the mandatory Parents Meeting? GBYBS has decided to NOT hold mandatory parent meetings. We have found that our volunteer time would be best spent providing information to our coaches and through email and on our website.

Can my business or family provide sponsorship? Yes! We appreciate all levels of sponsorship provided to our league - we couldn't do it without you! Contact [email protected] for additional information or to discuss premium and in-kind sponsorship. Learn more.
