Babe Ruth - 2020 Season

GBYBS Babe Ruth Baseball

What is Babe Ruth?

The Babe Ruth Division is for players age 13-15, along with advanced, 7th grade 12 year olds, who play competitive baseball on a full 90’ diamond with official baseball rules. GBYBS offers a recreational season for Babe Ruth ages 13 & 14, along with summer tournament trail with state, regional and world series opportunities.

When does registration end and what is the cost?

Deadline to register is February 15th without a late fee. An additional $25 late fee will be available for one week. All players must register online. Initial registration cost is $165. A separate registration window will be available for the summer season based on player interest with separate fees.

Are there boundary restrictions?

Most Babe Ruth players live within the Gresham / Barlow school district, however, players in the Reynolds, Corbet, Damascus, and Sandy areas are welcome to play ball with us! A player that lived within the boundary and moved out without a lapse in play with the league is eligible to remain with GBYBS. Read more on our league news!

What is the age breakdown for teams?

GBYBS is unable to predict and/or commit to the age of teams available from year to year. Across the nation, leagues see a large drop-off in player participation at the age of 14 due to the variety of reasons, and our league is no different. We anticipate at least 2 or 3 teams of 13 & 14yr olds. If your player is age 15, please let us know and we will keep a list of interested older players.

How are teams formed?

Teams are created through a player draft process intended to keep teams as even as possible. While it is not perfect, we have found that when coaches and players attend evaluations, there is a better probability of seeing this process work out well. Due to scheduling needs, teams will be announced by the end of Feb.

When and where are evaluations?

Registered Babe Ruth players must attend at least 1 player evaluation session but are encouraged to attend both. Read more about evaluations in our news section. (here)

Do Babe Ruth players participate in tournaments?

GBYBS offers tournaments for Babe Ruth players that want more than league games. At this level, players can participate in local tournaments as well as state and beyond. Tournaments may start as early as April and are selected through coordinated efforts of the division director, league president and coach.

What is the league fundraising this year?

All Babe Ruth players must participate in or opt-out of league fundraising prior to any team fundraising. This year, players will have several options to fundraise including the VERY popular peperoni sticks and our traditional Hanging Flower Baskets for Mother's Day.
