What is Majors and Minors Division? The Majors and Minors divisions provide recreational kid-pitch baseball for players age 9-12 along with advanced 8yr olds. At the minors level, players have their first few years with live pitching. At the majors level, players are more advanced with pitching. Teams are formed based on the number of players registered, with an evaluation and draft process.
Do coaches umpire ?GBYBS strives to have paid umpires for all Majors games and a majority of Minors games depending on availability. Coaches may be required to fill in from time-to-time as game umpires. Are there boundary restrictions? Most Cal Ripken players live or go to school within the Gresham / Barlow district. A player that lived within the boundary and moved out without a lapse in play with the league is eligible to remain with GBYBS. Players living in our neighboring districts not serviced by Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken, such as Reynolds, Corbett and Damascus can play with GBYBS as long as we are the closest Cal Ripken league. Can my player participate in post-season tournaments?Yes, all recreational season players are eligable to sign-up for post-season and participate in an evaluation day if needed. Teams will be formed in early May and start tournament play early June. Additional information on post-season coming soon. We are not able to guarantee every player will be placed onto a summer team.
