What is the TeeBall Division?
TeeBall is designed for our very youngest 1st year players that are 4yrs old as of April 30, 2020. Game play and rules are based entirely around fun, player engagement, sportsmanship, team building, and the very basics. All players hit off a tee, no coach or machine pitching. Players run the bases one at a time and attempt to make an out on defense. Roster batting is enforced without keeping track of score or outs. This ensures all players receive a chance to hit off the Tee in each inning played. Emphasis is on fun, making new friends, teamwork, and building community with our families who will be integral for the development of the group for many years to come
How are teams formed?
Teams are created through buddy and coach requests as well as Elementary school attended to keep friends and classmates playing together as much as possible.
When are practices and games?
TeeBall practices start in April and are generally 1 day per week. Games are played on Saturday mornings only at local fields.
What equipment does my player need?
TeeBall players should have comfortable clothing, a glove and cleats. A batting helmet and bat are optional.
Are there boundary restrictions?
Most Cal Ripken players live or go to school within the Gresham / Barlow district. A player that lived within the boundary and moved out without a lapse in play with the league is eligible to remain with GBYBS. Players living in our neighboring districts not serviced by Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken, such as Reynolds, Corbett and Damascus can play with GBYBS as long as we are the closest Cal Ripken league.
Head Coaches and Assistants must also register as a volunteer online www.gbybs.org/about/coach
